Artificial Intelligence Will Take the Stage at Mobile World Congress

Mobile World Congress (MWC), held in Barcelona, Spain, expects 95,000 visitors and 2,400 attendees worldwide for an event that runs until Thursday, February 29. The impact of AI is spreading across the field as companies rush to adopt generative AI and other machine learning tools.
Companies in the wireless sector are integrating artificial intelligence with telecommunications. While some companies are adding AI features to smartphones and other devices, others are using AI to improve the way network systems work.
Alex Sinclair, Secretary General of the GSMA association, the architect of the MWC, said: "Artificial Intelligence offers huge opportunities for the telecom industry and the communities it serves to launch new services, improve connectivity and customer experience. Overall, AI will contribute 15.7 trillion dollars to the global economy by 2030." "It is estimated that the dollar may contribute," he said.
“However, democratizing AI is critical to ensure that all parts of the connectivity industry and its customers benefit, wherever they are in the world,” Sinclair added.
Artificial Intelligence Supported Gadgets
Deutsche Telekom is preparing to launch a concept AI phone designed to streamline smartphone tasks and eliminate dependency on individual apps through an AI assistant. The phone features a generative AI interface from Brain.ai and can take on the roles of numerous apps by predicting and executing actions.
“An assistant based on artificial intelligence (AI) replaces numerous applications on the smartphone,” Deutsche Telekom said in the press release. “Like a concierge, the assistant understands your goals and takes care of the details.”
Recently, Google and Samsung revealed their new smartphones equipped with new AI features, including improved photo editing and simplified internet searches.
Smaller smartphone companies like China's Honor will also unveil their latest offerings at MWC. Honor's latest high-end smartphone comes with an AI-powered camera with motion detection technology, allowing it to detect movement and automatically take photos at the ideal time.
Lenovo plans to showcase a collection of AI devices and infrastructure tools at its booth, including a range of new AI-enabled computers and edge computing devices.
AI is Ready for Discussion
In addition to consumer technology, attendees at MWC will be able to explore how artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, and quantum computing are improving connectivity for business and industrial applications. Artificial intelligence, on Wednesday, February 28, "Is 2024 the year of artificial intelligence-centered telecommunications?" It's featured at numerous events, with sessions like the panel and Monday's discussion "Leveraging Gen AI at the telecommunications scale."
The “Advancing Gen AI that Cares” session aims to explore the impact of AI on the telecom industry’s workforce. Companies like AT&T have stated that AI has contributed to reduced call volumes in customer service centers and increased efficiency in field operations, consulting and contractor costs.
A discussion to watch is “Revolutionizing Connectivity: Driving the Future with AI-Powered Networks.” This session will explore the future of AI-powered mobile networks that aim to combine communication with computing to integrate digital and physical domains. Experts from AT&T, Nokia, Nvidia and Ericsson will contribute to the discussion.
Google is preparing to deepen its AI breakthroughs by focusing on improvements for the Android mobile operating system. Apple is likely to sit out MWC, but there are rumors that the company is working on adding more AI applications to its devices.
